Contract position: Client involved in the power plant engineering & construction projects is looking for a Controls Engineer for a long term contract opportunity. You need a BS degree in Engineering and 5-15 years of experience as a Controls Engineer supporting power plant control system upgrade projects. Client is located in Kansas City, MO and is looking for local candidates.

Responsibilities for the I&C Engineer

  • Prepare instruments and control systems specifications, instruments and instrument valves data sheets, RFQs, technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations in support of oil & gas EPC projects

  • Conduct review of instrument and control systems vendor drawings and data. Interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, and detailers/designers.

  • Participate in the development of P&ID's and equipment/subcontract package specifications

  • Develop logic diagrams, instrument index, I/O list, cause & effects, and control narratives

  • Able to support construction and startup & commission activities in the field, when required

  • Prepare instrumentation calculations for control valves, flow orifices, and relief valves

Requirements for the I&C Engineer

  • 5-15 years of experience as an Instrument Engineer or I&C Engineer supporting large heavy industrial plant (gas, refinery, process plant, etc...) EPC projects

  • You need to be able to perform instrumentation calculations (sizing & specifying) for control valves, flow orifices & relief valves as well as specifying metering & instrumentation devices

  • BS degree in in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical engineering preferred

  • You need some knowledge of instrumentation (valves, data sheets, etc...)

  • Must be willing and eligible to obtain or currently hold a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)

  • PE license is preferred, ability to get the PE license is required

  • 20% travel is required

  • Experience using Intergraph Smartplant or INTOOLS software is a PLUS
