job description

  • Manages the daily processes of fuel taxes

  • File all fuel tax returns in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring that all associated discounts and allowances are earned and penalties are not incurred

  • Works with other departments to develop, implement and maintain efficient and effective systems, procedures, policies and controls to accurately collect and report fuel taxes

  • Develops and prepares reports and ad-hoc analyses designed to transform fuel tax data into information targeted to improve management decision-making

  • Responsible for ensuring all fuel tax practices are consistent with IFTA regulations and documentation of existing fuel tax policies and procedures are adequately maintained

  • Responsible for the recruiting, hiring, training and professional development of direct reports with an emphasis on "Best People" practices

  • Acts as the primary financial and accounting liaison to internal and external parties (e.g. Independent Accountants, Taxing Jurisdictions, etc.) as it relates to company-owned and customer owned fuel tax activities

  • Leads special projects and prepares special reports and/or analyses as requested

  • Accurately input information from trip reports, fuel receipts and images provided from drivers

Working hours: 8-5

Skills:

--Four year degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred

--3 - 5 years' work experience with degree

--Preferred experience in transportation with strong skills in the areas of auditing

--Excel spreadsheets and data manipulation

--Able to handle a heavy workload while working with minimal supervision

--Accuracy and attention to detail required
